A brand and campaign for the Solent Green Deal initiative

An easy to use engaging campaign toolkit delivered to enable local authorities to raise awareness of the Solent Green Deal scheme.

Following the UK Government’s announcement of offering Nationwide grants and other cash incentives to UK homeowners by way of the ‘Green Deal’ initiative. Frost was briefed to develop a new name, the brand identity and overall campaign collateral for local authorities within the Solent region to adopt when promoting the scheme to their community.

The green deal initiative enables homeowners and tenants within the Solent region to make energy efficiency improvements, reduce CO2 emissions & fuel poverty, whilst also ensuring the greatest potential economic benefits are realised within the region in the form of new jobs, supporting existing jobs and new apprenticeship schemes.

The aims of this brand and campaign project were to create a name, brand and campaign to roll out across the Solent region; increase awareness and uptake of Green Deal by private sector landlords, tenants, owner occupiers and vulnerable groups; increase training and employment opportunities within Hampshire and ensure the project brings maximum benefit to the local economy and support local authorities with the implementation of Green Deal communications.

We initiated a workshop with key stakeholders to develop a brand strategy that informed the Creative Direction of the brand and campaign as a whole. The end result was an engaging new name, identity and campaign toolkit for The Solent Green Deal.

We created an illustrated landscape which had a local focus.

By using a variety of carefully selected landmarks from the Solent region we were able to give the campaign a local feel, with a strong visual theme combined with simple, straight to the point tone of voice we were able to ensure residents easily understand what the scheme is about.

The result. The following local authorities utilised our campaign; Portsmouth City Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, Southampton City Council, Gosport Borough Council, Winchester City Council, East Hampshire District Council, Havant Borough Council, New Forest District Council, Test Valley BC, Fareham Borough Council and Rushmoore Borough Council. 100’s of projects were delivered benefitting the local economy, residents and the environment.
