Cooking up more footfall for an on-board restaurant brand
Client:
Each year, Red Funnel transports over 2.3 million passengers and 800,000 vehicles, playing a vital role in regional connectivity, tourism and local commerce. Established in 1861, they are the original ferry operator connecting the mainland with the Isle of Wight.
Challenge:
Red Funnel’s on-board restaurant brand had grown tired and needed inspiration and some creative flair to attract diners to try their new menu. There was also the small matter of a rather tight deadline and open brief.
Solution:
We explored broad creative directions and engaged in brainstorming sessions to generate diverse concepts quickly. This was as much a copy-lead as visual-lead project. Guiding their thinking by creating a choice of brand options, it was the positioning statement ‘Eat Well. Travel Well’ that immediately struck a chord.
Combined with beautiful, clean photography, this was translated into tactile, functional formats across photography, packaging design and print, video, posters and point of sale. It created a seamless brand experience from the main passenger decks to the restaurant.
Results:
A visually cohesive campaign that elevated dining numbers and reinforced Red Funnel’s reputation and position as a trusted ferry travel operator.
