We are thrilled to announce that our creative concepts have emerged victorious in a recent 3-way pitch for an upcoming public art event in Southampton!
Partnering with renowned creative producers, Wild in Art, and Southampton Hospitals Charity, we are set to transform the city into a vibrant artistic landscape during the summer of 2024, from July through to September.
This large-scale art event will feature approximately 40 individually designed sculptures that will serve as a testament to Southampton’s rich cultural offer, extraordinary heritage, magnificent parks, and cultural diversity. Each sculpture will be sponsored by local businesses and adorned by talented local artists and communities, showcasing the city’s creative prowess.
The sculptures will be strategically placed across Southampton’s Central Business District, captivating both residents and visitors alike. Additionally, four sculptures will grace the picturesque Isle of Wight, creating an enchanting trail that highlights Southampton’s cultural gems and actively engages with communities and audiences from all corners of the city.
The event is designed to build upon existing cultural, tourism, and regeneration strategies. It aims to encourage residents to rediscover hidden gems within their own city and become tourists in their own right. Simultaneously, it invites visitors to explore, discover, and celebrate the sculptures and the unique charm of Southampton.
Beyond the visual splendour, this event holds immense significance in fostering civic pride and generating substantial economic, social, and cultural benefits for Southampton. It serves as a testament to the city’s commitment to its people and communities, enhancing its reputation as a vibrant and thriving cultural hub.
An integral part of this event is the learning program that will involve local schools, education establishments, and community groups. They will be given the opportunity to unleash their creativity by designing up to 30 smaller sculptures that will be displayed in clusters at various venues across the city. This initiative aims to engage and inspire the younger generation, fostering a deeper connection to their hometown’s artistic spirit.
Moreover, the sculptures will eventually be auctioned off, with all proceeds going towards Southampton Hospitals Charity.
